Spring/Summer 2016 hair and makeup trends
The future beauty trends from the Paris, Milan, London and New York Fashion Week runways
Spring/Summer 2016 served up an array of exciting new beauty trends, both on the catwalk and behind the scenes. This season saw the introduction of large eyelashes, in the form of long spidery falsies, and short, sharp comic book styles. Graphic eyeliner also made an appearance on several catwalks including Fendi and Celine. For lips, it was all about red hues: mattered hues to be exact. And the colour of the season? It has to be blue, which is wearing on the eyelids and brow bones with complete confidence.
CHANEL
The eyes had it at Chanel where models sported washes of blue shadow in the shape of bandit masks. Original! Chanel's new All Blue Rhythm Collection was responsible which we predict will be major come Spring for nailing the blue eyed trend. Hair hero Sam McKnight gave childhood pigtails a chic twist with double barrettes adjoining them at the back. So pretty.

Black kohl liner rimmed the model's eyes at the Chloe show, lending the otherwise natural texture, and look some cool girl grunge vibes. The hair was all about natural texture, and we love this particular model's haphazard kinks.

PAUL SMITH
Stylist Tina Outen created this amazing twisted hairstyle armed with Bumble and bumble products. She split the hair into two equal sections and tonged the front section of the hair away from the face, brushed through to create a soft wave. Next she pulled both sections into ponytails just below the ears, twisted and criss-crossed the hair around in a figure of eight then pinned to secure.

ROKSANDA
With a 60s theme the models sported washes of bright blue eye shadow while the hair had a dual textured finish. The crimped front sections were achieved by applying some Toni&Guy Glamour 3D Volumiser evenly and braided, then the straighteners were slid over them before releasing. Clever!

ALTUZARRA
The detail was at the back for the Altuzarra models this NYFW. Stylist Odile Gilbert for Moroccanoil explained how to achieve the twisted 'V': "With each hand, grab a section of hair from the front of each side of the head. Begin to pull these two sections of the hair away from the face, twisting them back and away from the face. Secure low with a clear elastic, creating a "V" shape with the hair." Do try this at home.

PUBLIC SCHOOL
We loved the rope braid (or 'power braid' as they coined it) hairstyle at the Public School show in New York. Aveda's Allen Ruiz was behind the look, who used the brand's Smooth Infusion Nourishing Style Cream twice on the models; once to smooth the ponytails in prep for the clockwise twisting of two sections to the end of the hair, and again to smooth over any flyaways.
