12 Lips We Loved From the Spring 2016 Shows

Classic red, vampy oxblood, shocking pink and even gold—we saw nearly every shade swathed across lips for spring 2016. Whether you credit the birth of this beauty trend to Rihanna's ever-changing lipstick wardrobe or the mere fact that a quick coat of crimson polishes off a Marchesa ball gown just as well as it does a pin-striped blazer from Topshop, we're glad the mouth is having a moment. Here, our favourite lip looks fresh off the catwalk.

Crystals, pearls, lace, and beads were painstakingly glued to models' faces to exquisite effect hours before this show, but a dramatic swipe of dark berry lipstick is equal as striking (and a lot simpler to DIY).

EMPORIO ARMANI
Like a chocolate covered cherry, lips at this show were a cross between burgundy and brown—an effect achieved by layering a ruby stain with a mahogany cream shadow.

BURBERRY PRORSUM

To prevent moody, merlot mouths from looking severe, makeup artist Wendy Rowe softly blurred the edges of models' lips with a cotton swab.

TOP SHOP

"Princess Margaret meets Courtney Love" is how makeup artist Hannah Murray described the "rebellious beauties" at Topshop Unique. The red lipstick felt so much more rock 'n' roll when clicked on straight from the tube and paired with "destroyed kohl" around eyes.

DKNY

"It will be a nice little surprise in the show," said makeup artist Yadim of sending a handful of models down the runway with tomato-red pouts inspired by Peter Lindbergh's iconic portraits of '90s supermodels. "It's power dressing and the power woman did in a fresh and modern way."

Today, with Fenella we practise lips look, from natural to dark rich colour, by using the brush or dabbing with the finger.

My model Vicky has the regular line

On the first look, I only applied Mac balm lip, dabbing into lips by using the finger.

My second look, I used pink colour from Kryolan lip palette doll pink, implemented by using lip brush

Then, applied several coats of lip gloss, gave them the shiny look.

My favour next colour deep red from Clinique, implemented by using the small brush, It's hard to apply dark colour. I had used a lip liner before I applied the lipstick. Like you can see, a line could be cleaner and more precise, neater.

I choose dark red from Kryolan lip palette; I think this colour went better than before. I also cleaned lip line by using lighter foundation from Kryolan palette.

In this dark red colour, Vicky looks amazing, really suit her.

This look was inspiring by Catwalk Designer Spring/Summer 2015 Vivienne Westwood

It's much easier to apply lipstick on your lips, you now your line, I used from Kryolan lip palette, gorgeous brown, satin finish colour.

I love this colour, so rich and dark red lips Revlon lipstick; I applied by using a small brush. One side needs to be clean, my left side.

One of my favour ombre lips, I applied lip liner around lips, and pink colour dabbed in the middle of lips.

Products which I used:
  • cotton buds
  • cotton pads
  • brush cleaner
  • cleanser
  • toner
  • Mac lip balm
  • Revlon red lipstick
  • Kryolan lips palette
  • lip liner
  • lip gloss
