Unit Evaluation

UNIT EVALUATION

In my second term our unit calls Makeup for Fashion and Beauty. We learn the basics how to create a makeup for the catwalk, advert and editorial like also how to use and set up photography lighting in the studio. On Lottie lessons, we learn how to style and create hair from 2016 Spring/Summer trend. With Simon, we practised how to set up and use gel lights to achieve the best photo. This term was fantastic; we had a chance to create an own vision for the catwalk, advert and editorial makeup look.
My project theme exhibits beauty, classy and chic look. I don't like it Avant-garde, all of my images must have something to catch an eye. I love to define of natural face appearances, give shape properly enhance nature. When I started my research about beauty brands, read about history and establishment some of the news surprise me. Now I know more than ever before to purchase some makeup products. However, before I chose my brand, I checked the texture, pigment and overall packages. One of my favourites was Lancome; I love everything about spring/summer collection 2016 from smell to the colour of products.

Lisa Eldrige is one of famous makeup artist which design and checks new launched Lancome products. She was my mentor throw her tutorials on youtube. Her designs are stunning and defining natural beauty,  what I like it most. For my final catwalk, editorial and advert makeup design I was looking for inspiration online, some books and in magazines. This year trends fantastic from makeup to hairstyle, playful graphic eyeliner, the combination of pastel colours and beautiful shiny dewy skin to the fabulous beachy hairstyle. In makeup the hardest technic is eyeliner, to achieve straight line with soft finishes. I enjoyed doing my two catwalks looks, playing with graphic liner. Moreover, I love it doing the hair, sleek ponytail, chignon, braids or beachy hair style. Before design my makeup look, I carefully choose hair style with eyeshadow colour. I also looked at Pat McGrath work, makeup design for Victoria Beckham, Anna Sui red-orange lips and dewy skin. Another influence from Marchesa Designer shiny dewy skin, fuschia lips and sophisticated, sleek chignon, or Balmain for active contouring and sleek high ponytail. Dolce&Gabanna or Dsquared2 for luminous skin, red or natural lips and beautiful graphic eyeliner.
The hardest part and time-consuming was booking a studio a setting the lighting but from the other hand, I enjoyed take it a photo and playing with lights. Probably group work would be more exciting and less time-consuming. What I learn from my project, is precision. To create a stunning look, we must practise. I am proud of myself for almost perfect graphic eyeliner. My weak spot is complicated hair style; I didn't spend enough time to rehearse. Usually, I spent more time for doing makeup.

In conclusion, this year gave me a lot opportunity to practise each part of makeup like active contouring, lips, eyebrows, etc.. Simon's lessons expand my knowledge about photography lighting, how to use gel light, microlenses or light metre. Probably I wouldn't change my design if I  have another chance, but I would spend more time to do makeup revision
